This photograph of a sentinel patrolling the E.U.R., Mussolini's civic project for Rome, is one of a number I own in a style, which, starting in Russia at the time of revolution, spread across Europe like an ink stain on a map, regardless of frontier or ideology. It was for a brief moment as if the socialists, capitalists, fascists and liberals collaborated on a collective dream named 'futura'. |
