This still from the 1924 film The Inheritance, is surely one of the defining moments of British Cinema. In it we see the young socialist, Archie Craig, gaining carnal knowledge of Lord Bentwhistle's daughter, Isodora. The two are discovered by the hounds, and a hilarious scene ensures as Craig is set upon by the dogs and their aristocratic masters. My friend Dorcus Walker claims that we are witnessing the conception of New Labour, but I think that this is just one of her jokes. |
