Barbecue at Cliffe Pools



The setting is the Thames estuary at nightfall and a somber mood prevails amongst the youngsters. On a high promontory above the flooded North Kent Marshes, the crew gathers around a meager fire on which they attempt to cook two small birds, caught in the former RSPB bird reserve. The brackish freshwater lagoons, which were once the birds' habitat, are now flooded with seawater. Caught in the moonlight on the northern shore is a large power station.
